Community Involvement
Engaging the community, supporting local non-profits, and giving back throughout the years
Financial Advisors Committed to Pennsylvania's community
Langan Financial Group is full of individuals committed to supporting Pennsylvania's community and non-profits.
It is built into our foundation. We are always finding new ways, both personally and professionally, to give back to our local community for over 40 years!
Bob and Pat Langan
Bob and Pat Langan have always had a passion for their community. Bob use to run the Holy Spirit carnival that took place in the old Bonton lot in Lower Allen (remember the giant Ferris wheel, the carnival games you could never win, and the funnel cakes?) Bob helped run that for 5 years before taking a break.
In addition to organizing the local fair, Bob and Miss Pat created Touch of the Valley, an annual silent auction and tasting event that supports various programs within the Cumberland Valley school district including summer enrichment camps, Reading Booster programs, math enhancement camps, the buddy program, learning grants, and more.
Through this program, they have helped raise over $50,000! An amazing accomplishment for our local community that continues to give back.
Bob and Miss Pat didn't stop there. They continued developing new fundraisers, ensuring good continues to spread through our local community. Bob and Miss Pat's next mission was Monte Carlo Night, a Mardi Gras fundraising event for Trinity High School.
Here Bob and Miss Pat created an event that participants could use play money to participate in casino games to win prizes. They added in great food, fun decorations, and a wonderful environment that would support Trinity High School's sports programs.
Bob and Miss Pat have created some of the most successful and long-lasting fundraising events to support our local community. They continue to participate in events and support organizations vital to bettering the general public.
Alex Langan
Alex was part of the first class of the Emerging Philanthropist Program. After successfully completing the program, his class decided to dedicate their $5,000 grant to Samara, a non-profit dedicated to strengthening families that have experienced trauma.
After completing the program, Alex wanted to do more and so he became a board member for Samara. There he used his experience in financial advisory as well as a certified attorney to help guide them through their strategic efforts.
In addition to serving on Samara's board, Alex has put together a Harrisburg Hoopla team to compete on Samara's behalf for unrestricted funds. He has helped win over $10,000 for them through the competition.
During his tenure with Samara, Alex joined Widener Law School's Business Advising Board. Here, Alex helps Widener Law School better its Business Advising Certification Program, allowing students to advise small and midsize businesses in our economy.
Devin Langan
When Devin moved back to Harrisburg, he joined the Emerging Philanthropist Program. EPP teaches young professionals about philanthropic endeavors in our region, educating us on Harrisburg’s key issues.
At the end of the class, the class creates an RFP to award a $5,000 grant to a local non-profit. In Devin's class, their focus was on supporting programs helping to end the cycle of poverty. Their grant went to Harrisburg's YWCA to help a program dedicated to helping individuals find sustainable jobs.
After graduating from the program, Devin was elected to the Spokesperson position for his class. He continued to work with EPP to find ways to increase funds available to our community, thus Harrisburg Hoopla was born.
Devin was a founding member of Harrisburg Hoopla, an adult field day that allows individuals to form teams, representing the local charities within our area. The top three teams win a portion of the proceeds to donate to their charity with the remaining funds going into the Emerging Philanthropist Program fund.
To date, EPP and Hoopla have given over $50,000 back to Central Pennsylvania. Despite the pandemic's best efforts, it continues to grow each year and Devin is excited to be a part of their success.
Devin continued to pursue opportunities to make a positive impact in the community. He joined the Foundation for Enhancing Communities’ board, supporting their strategic goals as well as their Grantmaking Committee.
In addition, he joined the EPP’s Endowment Fund board to help guide funds throughout the community.
He continued supporting non-profit strategies and operational implementation tactics. Devin was the program’s co-chair for the American Society for Quality (ASQ) Harrisburg Section 503 chapter, helping coordinate the monthly events for the members.
These events brought in industry experts to help members gain educational credits, as well as expand their knowledge within the field.
After working with ASQ, Devin joined the Greater Harrisburg area’s Habitat for Humanity board, supporting their strategic and operational goals.
He started out as Member of Large, working with the Executive team to implement their vision. Next, he became Treasurer and finally Vice President, helping create and implement strategies to better the organization and the Harrisburg community.
After his journey with Habitat, Devin is now serving on the Leadership Council for the Pennsylvania National Federation of Independent Businesses. He is focused on helping small businesses and entrepreneurs all throughout Pennsylvania flourish.
In addition, Devin is also the Founder and President to the American Marketing Association of Central Pennsylvania. This non-profit helps empower, encourage, and educate the local marketing industry for both students and professionals. This chapter is the first chapter for AMA to be created in 10 years and is the fastest one to receive full chapter recognition.
Tyler Quinn
Tyler is a graduate of Leadership York Program, an initiative created to train and support individuals dedicated to serving the York community in leadership positions.
Tyler is currently enrolled in the Emerging Philanthropist Program through the Foundation for Enhancing Communities. Here he is learning about the grant writing process for non-profits as well as the need in our community.
Outside of EPP, Tyler serves as the Treasurer for the American Marketing Association of Central Pennsylvania.
Harry Claypool
Harry has always been passionate about supporting non-profits, especially THON. Ever since high-school, Harry has been contributing to raising funds for THON, developing his leadership abilities at an early age.
He eventually became a Canvassing Captain, leading teams of 30 individuals to help raise funds for Four Diamonds. He is proud to be part of a fundraising initiative that helps raise hundreds of thousands of dollars to fight childhood cancer.
Langan Financial Group Support Non-Profits
All the members of Langan Financial Group continue to support local non-profits. In an effort to increase our corporate social responsibility, we started creating donation drives for local charities through happy hour events.
Throughout the year, we will host a happy hour event in honor of a charity. We partner with them to do a donation drive, such as the MidWest Food Bank for a food drive or Speranza Animal Rescue for animal supplies.
We continue to do our best to help our community as much as we can. We can't always donate money, but that doesn't mean that's the only way to help. We've donated our time, our expertise, and our connections.
We help pull people together to support a local mission and further drive better outcomes for our community. It is a great joy for us to be able to help in this manner. Check out Langan Financial Group's opportunities to support local charities.
