Our Financial Planning Firm's History
Langan Financial Group is a financial planning firm founded near Harrisburg Pennsylvania in 1985 by Bob Langan.
Bob grew up in Pittston, Pennsylvania, and moved to the Harrisburg area in middle school. His mother, Mary, played a major role in inspiring and mentoring Bob into becoming an entrepreneur.
Bob Langan's Role Model
Mary was one of the first women to graduate college with a business degree and enter the insurance industry in 1939 to serve Harrisburg's insurance needs.
She was a strong, independent individual whose leadership, hard work, and thirst for knowledge were passed on to her son.
Mary was a tremendous role model to look up to, who overcame numerous challenges thrown at her.
With a strong mentality and work ethic, she taught Bob how to actively listen to individuals, a skill set that seems lost in today’s fast-paced society.
Her focus on communication, setting expectations, and ability to proactively engage with individuals became the centerpiece of Bob's business.
Finding Bob's Partner
Bob married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Spackman in 1973. While working at a bank, he noticed the culture was not what his mother taught him to value. It focused on the bottom line rather than the individual.
Bob wanted to help people and develop life-long relationships, so in 1985, with the support of Miss Pat, Bob launched his Harrisburg financial planning business.
Developing the Financial Planning Team
Miss Pat and Bob started creating a financial planning team that emphasized customer service and quality care, with Ann Marie Taylor and Chris McNulty joining the team.
Ann and Chris have been with the firm for over 20 years and are practically family. We have seen each other's families grow and mature.
From graduations to weddings to children, we have experienced each other's major milestones and are thrilled to continue to do so.
They continue to expand on the foundation Bob started at Langan Financial Group. They focus on delivering top-quality customer service, clear communication, and proactively supporting all clients as much as possible.
Harrisburg, Pa Financial Planning Firm Makes a Home
Langan Financial Group has rented offices through the Harrisburg area, however, after several years, we have settled down in one location and made a permanent home.
Our financial planning firm found an office in Camp Hill, Pa, across from Highmark has a beautiful view of the Condoguinet Creek.
We have personalized our office with pictures of family, friends, and of course, our beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Zoey.
Here, at our financial planning office, we have included an event space to host donation drives, engage the community, and provide support to local non-profits.
We are thrilled to have a home and to continue being part of the Harrisburg community we love so much.
Financial Planning Firm Continues to Grow
Bob and Pat Langan originally started out with just each other.
As they continued to focus on supporting Central Pennsylvania's financial planning goals, Bob and Pat started adding team members to help with customer service and financial planning services.
Soon Chris McNulty and Ann Marie Taylor joined the team. Chris and Ann are the centerpieces for Bob's team, always going the extra mile to support our clients.
Eventually, the team continued to grow, and Bob and Pat were proud to have their middle son, Alex joined the Harrisburg financial planning firm in 2014.
Alex focused on investments and retirement plans, allowing additional clients to join our programs. A year later, Devin the youngest, moved back from Atlanta, Georgia to join the company to help with marketing and operations.
As the practice continues to grow, we added a few more members and services. As of 2022, we added an additional financial advisor - Tyler Quinn. Tyler brings 10 years of industry experience and knowledge to our clients.
In addition, we have our Chief Rollover Officer, Zoey the Bernese Mountain Dog who provides us support when we need it most.
Two more individuals joined our team in June of 2022, Harry Claypool and Reid Ruark. Harry and Reid are supporting our retirement plan and investment operations, helping us increase our value and services to our clients.
In August of 2023, we were able to expand to a second financial planning office in York, Pa.
Today, our family has grown to nine individuals. We are committed to actively listening to your needs, understanding your concerns, and delivering quality financial planning services.
